Power-to-X as catalyst for green conversion and growth

CO2 emissions have declined much during the corona crisis. The spread of the corona virus caused many countries to shut down, which meant lower power consumption, traffic on land, water and in the air, and factories have been closed etc. It is assumed that the total CO2 emission reduced by up to 7-8% at the end of 2020 according to an international study published in the scientific journal Nature Climate Change. It simply shows that an extra ordinary effort is required if the Danish Climate Act’s target of 70% reduced CO2 emissions by 2030 is to be met.

A major contributor to reducing CO2 will, of course, be a focus area such as “Power-to-X as a catalyst for green conversion and growth”. Developing technological services that support the transformation of the energy system through Power-to-X (PtX) requires strong organizations. The focus area can be implemented by FORCE Technology, which has a broad contact with manufacturers, system integrators and operators, supplemented by a broad interdisciplinary collaboration with the other GTS institutes, Dansh Technical University (DTU) and SMEs.

Optimization and scaling up of PtX plants require development of methods for handling hydrogen and mixed gases. Risk assessments are often under-estimated or completely missing with serious consequences for safety, people and environment. Security must be encompassed throughout the Power-to-X (PtX) value chain.
